LOSTOCK Gralam Parish Council is delighted to announce the opening of its long-awaited new sports facility - a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) at the Stubbs Lane play area.

The 30m by 15m MUGA feature’s football goal posts, basketball hoops, cricket stump markings and target practice and replaces a very worn-out grass football pitch.

The MUGA is for all ages, and it is hoped that it will be enjoyed by the community for many years to come.

The team tasks with delivering the project raised an impressive £71,000, which came from three different grant providers.

The chairman for the project said "The executive committee have worked hard through what's been a difficult time to secure both funding and deliver the project.

"We hope that the MUGA will prove to be a valuable asset to the Lostock Gralam community and that its residents will enjoy the new facility.

"We'd like to thank both Veolia and FCC for their support in funding this project along with others who helped it become reality."
