THE number Covid-19 cases recorded across Cheshire West and Cheshire East has risen by 100 during the latest 24-hour period.

A total of 538 new cases were reported in Mid Cheshire in the 24 hours up to 4pm today, Wednesday, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

This is made up of 229 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 309 cases in Cheshire East.

This is compared to 207 new cases recorded in Cheshire West and Chester and 231 cases recorded in Cheshire East in the previous 24 hours.

The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 38,594 in Cheshire West and 38,902 in Cheshire East.

The latest update means there have now 1,233 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 358.6 per 100,000 people.

There have been 1,465 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough’s seven-day case rate is now 378.9 per 100,000.

Nationally there were 34,460 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in the latest 24-hour period.
