NORTHWICH Guitar Club is back after more than 18 months – and with a new venue to call home.

The weekly club is for players of all abilities and even those who just enjoy listening to music and want to sing along.

Sessions will now take place at Anderton Memorial Hall on Thursdays from 7pm until 9pm.

And it's been a long time coming.

The club had to cancel its small concert due to the multiple lockdowns and moved over to Zoom, over which it produced a video covering Oasis' Live Forever.

Northwich Guitar Club has really stuck together throughout the lockdown, with Kris Reid from the club describing it as more of a 'community' than a club, also putting on performances to raise money for charity.

He added that the Anderton with Marbury Parish Council had been 'absolutely brilliant and really supportive' since the club moved to Anderton Memorial Hall and everyone is looking forward to getting back together again.

The club can support all ages from 14, but children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

All staff members are professional tutors with current DBS checks.

The first session is free, after which membership is required – contact the club for details.

Northwich Guitar Club aims' include:

  • Giving people the chance to learn and perform as a whole group and/or in smaller 'peer-based' ensembles;
  • An opportunity to work on the songs provided or on the songs you choose;
  • It is always looking for singers and the odd percussionist to give the sound more texture;
  • Spare guitars may be available for those who wish to try but contact the club beforehand to make sure one is available on the night;
  • It is an environment where all playing abilities are catered for, with potential grouping in some instances based on ability for support and extra help.
