A PERSISTENT public nuisance has been jailed after committing his latest offence while serving a suspended sentence.

Wesley Dean Snellgrove, who provided the court with an address in Manchester, pleaded guilty to being drunk at Northwich Railway Station on September 9.

The 42-year-old was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on September 10, where he was sentenced to serve 18 weeks in prison, 12 of which will be suspended for a period of two years.

Snellgrove admitted to being drunk in a public place and having a open bottle of alcohol, which he was prohibiting from doing because of a criminal behaviour order made at the same court just one month earlier (on August 9).

He had been made subject of that order after admitting offences relating to the harassment of a couple in Northwich causing them alarm or distress.

That offence was committed on March 22 this year, before he later admitted to remaining at a premises on Stanley Grove in the town on May 20, which was in contravention of a closure order issued by Crewe Magistrates Court the previous day.

Magistrates told Snellgrove they considered the offence to be so serious because it had been aggravated by his previous record of offending and had been carried out while subject to a suspended sentence.

As well as serving six weeks in prison, the defendant must also pay £128, which will be used to fund victim services.
