A NORTHWICH business which started-up just a month before the first national lockdown has been given a boost thanks to an award nomination.

Mark Ralph, Richard Delooze and Derek Shannon founded MRD Technologies in Wincham after taking the leap from their corporate roles to create a business that gave SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises) and charities in the region a better quality of service.

Despite 18 months of various lockdowns and restrictions, MRD has grown and now count Specsavers, Warrington Disability Partnership and M53 Ford as clients, providing them with telephony and IT solutions and support.

The company has now been nominated for the CommsBusiness Awards which acknowledges and applauds those who 'build pioneering technology solutions, contribute to innovative projects, or nurture supportive workplaces'.

Director Derek, 36, said to be included in the shortlist for the Best Reseller SME category against 'some industry heavy hitters' in the technology solutions industry was a dream come true.

"It was a very proud moment to stand against some of the other businesses shortlisted after having been in the industry for more than 14 years," said Derek.

“I’ve worked in resellers in the past – that’s where I learnt my trade – and the CommsBusiness magazine used to come through once a month and I used to think, I will be in that some day.

“When I set up MRD with Mark and Richard I set my mind on the fact that we would be nominated for an award with them – and now we are! We are over the moon!”
