THE number of Covid-19 cases recorded across Cheshire West and Cheshire East has fallen by almost 100 in the last day compared with the previous 24-hour period.

A total of 316 new cases were reported in Mid Cheshire between 4pm on September 13 and 4pm today, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

This is made up of 143 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 173 cases in Cheshire East.

This is compared with 405 new cases recorded across both areas yesterday.

The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 37,053 in Cheshire West and 36,940 in Cheshire East.

The latest update means there have now been 1,475 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 429 per 100,000 people.

There have been 1,356 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough’s seven-day case rate is now 350.7 per 100,000.

Nationally there were 26,628 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in the latest 24-hour period.
