GULLIVER’S World sometimes gets a bad rap and you occasionally see words like rundown or dated in reviews.
But the Old Hall theme park has actually seen a lot of investment recently with a whole host of new and revamped attractions and accommodation.
We asked the Gulliver’s team to list 10 ways they have improved the park in the past few years and what families should look out for.
LOST WORLD REVAMP
More than 20 animatronic and roaming dinosaurs were introduced to the park in 2018, bringing the Jurassic era to life for young adventurers
DESPERADO DROP
Desperado Drop arrived at the park in 2019 and is the tallest ride at Gulliver’s World, giving those brave enough to try it views from the top – before an exhilarating drop.
CAPE CANYON CRAZY GOLF
This nine hole crazy golf course is the newest attraction at the park, marking the ongoing development of the ‘Safari Kingdom’ area.
THE GULLIVER’S HOTEL
The 57-room hotel celebrates its 10th anniversary soon and its themed rooms have been named among the best in the country by interior design specialists Stelrad.
The hotel continues to be developed, with new unicorn rooms unveiled recently.
A spokesperson for Stelrad said: “The Gullivers Hotel in Warrington has a wide range of themed rooms to suit your child’s preferences.
“Whether it’s a pirate adventure or a princess short break, there are themes for all ages. The wallpaper, wall accessories and ceiling drapery effects really bring the room to life creating a memorable stay with the added special touches.
“These themed family suites can really make a stay extra special.”
TWILIGHT TRAILS
This popular way for adventurers of all ages to explore the park’s Lost World area was introduced in 2018.
You basically sleep over at Gulliver’s and then enjoy a dinosaur themed trail, with related activities, as the sun goes down and the park is otherwise unoccupied.
The trails will return in autumn for 2021.
TOGO TOWER
With three giant waterslides, Togo Tower is the centrepiece of Safari Kingdom at Gulliver’s World. The ride opened in 2017 and has become one of the favourites.
FAMILY DENS AND LODGES
As well as the Gulliver’s Hotel, the park has a variety of family dens and lodges available, including the recently opened Lost World and Fairy Dens.
RAF BURTONWOOD
The Burtonwood Heritage Centre marks part of Gulliver’s work to invest in and preserve the community’s history.
The centre is continually being enhanced and expanded with new indoor and outdoor exhibitions, including the newly installed front section of a C-54 Skymaster aircraft, used by the United States Army Air Forces in the Second World War.
RAF Burtonwood was opened in 1940 by the RAF and in 1942 it was transferred to the United States of America for war operations.
SPLASH ZONE
The Splash Zone at Gulliver’s World underwent a major refurbishment in 2017, with the addition of six new, bigger slides. Currently closed but reopening soon.
GULLY’S TOON TIME
While the park may have been closed throughout the national lockdowns, the team at Gulliver’s were still busy and even invented a cartoon series called ‘Gully’s Toon Time’ – which airs on the Gulliver’s TV YouTube channel.
