Almost 400 new Covid cases were recorded in Cheshire West and Cheshire East in the latest 24-hour period. 

A total of 390 new cases were reported in Mid Cheshire between 4pm on September 8 and 4pm today, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

This is made up of 196 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 194 cases in Cheshire East.

The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 35,973 in Cheshire West and 35,793 in Cheshire East.

The latest update means there have now been 1,490 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 433.4 per 100,000 people.

There have been 1,437 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough’s seven-day case rate is now 371.6 per 100,000.

Nationally there were 38,013 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in the latest 24-hour period.
