YEAR 11 pupils have finally been able to party the night away at their school prom thanks to determined parents and kind-hearted businesses.

Students from The County High School in Leftwich were unable to have their usual prom this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but their parents wanted to help them celebrate the end of a tough few years.

Parent volunteers came together to organise a night to remember, funded by local businesses.

Sarah Gibbs, one of those involved in organising the event, said: "Arrivals included fantastic stretch hummers, limos, sports cars and our highlight was a tractor.

"The sun was shining we couldn't have prayed for a better evening.

"Pupils were greeted by stilt walkers and a stunning sweetie cart by Angie Fitton from Flutes and Flare.

"After a group photo outside – having missed this in school due to Covid restrictions – staff from Vale Royal Abbey then ushered them inside where they were waiting with non-alcoholic fizz."

The event was dressed by Tillys Of Davenham and DJ Boyes provided a set alongside the LED dancefloor.

As night closed in, the pupils were led outside to watch a spectacular fireworks display by Fantasia.

"This was our opportunity to let the pupils celebrate their achievements over the past five years, as well as their results," Sarah added.

"We would like to wish all the school leavers from the class of 2021 a happy future in whatever path they may choose.

"Thank you for all those that gave their services for free and made this spectacular night happen – you have given these pupils a memory to treasure."
