MORE than 500 new Covid-19 cases were reported across Mid Cheshire during the latest 24-hour period.

A total of 510 people have tested positive, according to the latest figures from Public Health England in the last 24 hours up to 4pm on September 7.

This is made up of 276 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 234 cases in Cheshire East.

The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 35,758 in Cheshire West and 35,581 in Cheshire East.

The latest update means there have now been 1,413 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 411 per 100,000 people.

There have been 1,371 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough’s seven-day case rate is now 354.6 per 100,000.

Nationally there were 37,489 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in the latest 24-hour period.
