MORE than 370 new Covid-19 cases were reported across Mid Cheshire during the latest 24-hour period.

A total of 377 people have tested positive, according to the latest figures from Public Health England in the 24 hours up to 4pm on September 6.

This is made up of 208 new cases in Cheshire West and Chester and 169 cases in Cheshire East.

In comparison, in the 24 hours up to 4pm on Friday, 614 cases were recorded across both areas, meaning there has been a significant drop in the number of cases recorded.

The total number of cases in both boroughs now stands at 35,482 in Cheshire West and 35,347 in Cheshire East.

The latest update means there have now been 1,353 cases in the last seven days in Cheshire West, giving the borough a seven-day case rate of 393.5 per 100,000 people.

There have been 1,320 cases in Cheshire East over the last week, meaning the borough’s seven-day case rate is now 341.4 per 100,000.

Nationally there were 41,192 new Covid-19 cases across the UK in the latest 24-hour period.
