1874 Northwich were unable to make it a weekend double.
They were below-par in a 1-0 loss at Runcorn Linnets on Monday, following a 4-1 home success against Kendal Town on Saturday.
The Northern Premier League West encounter at Runcorn was settled three minutes into the second half.
Laurence Smith was afforded space to run through on goal and made no mistake in finding the net.
Skipper Mark Jones was replaced in the second half with a lower leg injury.
