A NORTHWICH woman caught drug driving, despite already being banned from the roads, has been sentenced.

Katie Jade Reed, or Mornant Avenue, was stopped by police on January 3 this year when behind the wheel of a Peugeot 207.

The 32-year-old was serving a driving disqualification at the time and also provided officers with a positive drugswipe at the roadside for cocaine, with a blood sample confirming the presence of Benzoylecgonine above the legal limit.

The sample given revealed 99 microgrammes of Benzoylecgonine - a breakdown product of the class A drug - per litre of her blood, which is almost twice over the legal limit.

Reed was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on August 11, where she was sentenced, after pleading guilty at the same court on June 29 to those two charges and another of driving with no insurance.

Making her the subject of a community order, Magistrates ordered Reed to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work as well as completing up to 25 days of a rehabilitation activity with the probation services.

She was also banned from driving for another 12 months and must pay Crown Prosecution costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge to fund victim services.
