CHESHIRE Gymnastics is taking part in the British Red Cross ‘Be Your Best’ campaign this summer – designed to inspire young people to challenge themselves in different activities.

The British Red Cross and Team GB have joined forces ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for the project, and Cheshire Gymnastics are supporting it.

Members of the British Gymnastics accredited club based in Northwich are taking part in the simple fundraiser as they set a new personal challenge and make a small donation.

The club has also pledged to donate £2 for every summer camp booking and has already raised £430.

Mark Hudson, head coach and founder at Cheshire Gymnastics, said: "It was so simple to register and a great way to boost new target setting – it can be anything from learning a star jump to holding a handstand and invites all ages and abilities to get involved, perfectly reflecting our fully inclusive culture at Cheshire Gymnastics."

Gymnast Isabella Gorry, said: "I want to be my best at tumble moves this summer and I will do this through working hard on getting better height, set up and strength.”

Megan Rees, gymnast at Cheshire Gymnastics added: "I have a competition this summer and I really want to perform to the best of my ability.

"My favourite activities are beam and floor, but I want to be at my best on all four of the pieces.

"I know I need to improve strength and power, which is why I am working as hard as I can."

Ella Hudson, also a gymnast, said: "I am going to try and achieve some of my main goals, which include doing a flick tuck, improving my flexibility, doing a perfect summersault, win a medal in my competition and prep for my doubles.

"I want to do my best at achieving everything this summer."

Charis Priestley-Bird, senior community fundraiser for the British Red Cross, explained: "Every child has a different talent and it’s important for them to develop these and be recognised for their efforts.

"It is fantastic that we have Cheshire Gymnastics supporting us in our first year of this campaign.

"This support shows how easily any sports team can get involved and support those in need.

"I had the pleasure of visiting Cheshire Gymnastics outstanding facilities and met some of the young gymnasts who are pledging to be their best this summer and I am very excited to see what they make of this fantastic campaign."
