THIS van was stopped by police after it was spotted being driven on the M56 in the pouring rain this evening, Sunday.

Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police pulled the vehicle over due to the driver’s view being obscured by a soggy roll of carpet.

They also discovered that the load was not sufficiently secured, presenting a danger to other motorway users.

Northwich Guardian:

The driver, who was reported by officers, gave the excuse of ‘it wasn’t like that when I set off’.

A statement by the force’s GMP Traffic account said: “This vehicle was seen driving along the M56 in the pouring down rain.

“Load carried not only presented a danger to others, but reduced the drivers view of the road ahead.

“Driver stated ‘it wasn’t like that when I set off’. PG9 issued and driver reported.”

Northwich Guardian:

Traffic officers also came across a car which had pulled over and come to a stop on the hard shoulder of the M56.

There was no emergency however, as the driver just wanted to change the postcode in his sat nav system.

Officers subsequently issued them with a traffic offence report.
