A NORTHWICH father and his two sons will share the racing duties as their motorsport season gets underway this weekend.

The Spencer Weston Racing team are tackling the C1 Series, starting at Snetterton in Norfolk.

Hartford’s Martin Weston, a former senior partner at Chambers Fletcher Solicitors in Northwich where he worked for 38 years, and his sons James, who runs his own construction and property investment companies in the town, and Oliver, who works at Gascoigne Halman Estate Agents in Tarporley, will be behind the wheel of their Citroen C1 in shifts for the endurance events.

Saturday will hand them a three-hour race, followed by a four-hour affair the following day with a grid of 55 cars entered .

“Teams are friendly and helpful to each other in the pits, but very competitive on the track,” said Martin, who remains as a consultant to Chambers Fletcher Solicitors.

“You have to plan your tactics well with pit stops for changes of driver, refuelling, tyre changes etc when time can be lost if you don’t get it right.”

The Westons will be up against some professional race teams who have far more resources.

“This year we are really grateful to Chambers Fletcher for sponsoring our team which is very important to us in order to remain competitive,” said Martin.
