A NORTHWICH couple brought a slice of Glastonbury to their home after the world famous festival was forced to cancel for the second year running.

Lottie Roscoe and her partner Drew, who live in Winnington, regularly attend the Worthy Farm extravaganza and managed to get tickets for the 2020 event, which was cancelled because of the pandemic.

After having to settle for watching archive BBC coverage of the event last summer at home alone, they were hoping that they might return to the hallowed fields this summer, but it was not to be.

"We try and go whenever we can and it's something we look forward to all year," Lottie explained.

"We had tickets to go in 2020 and obviously it got postponed, and it just felt like there was a gap in our year last year so we just had to mark it somehow."

The couple, who are both 28 and have been living together for the last 18 months, decided to get together with some of their friends and decorated the house in true Glasto style as they put on their very own festival - Glasthomebury.

"We just said we have to do something," said Lottie.

"Even if we can't be in the muddy fields, we can still have our festival still.

"So we decided to host our own garden festival, complete with our own pyramid stage, cinema, bar and decorations.

"We made everything ourselves and it was a great way to mark the weekend."

In true Glastonbury style, the Friday evening even provided the much expected heavy downpours, but thankfully the home version didn't get underway until the Saturday.

Lottie added: "We normally go in a big group, so some of our friends who normally go with us came around while others are hoping to go next year.

"We missed the rain on the Friday but I was saying it would have just made it even more authentic.

"As much as we enjoy the line up, it's everything else that goes with it, such as sitting up by the Glastonbury sign and the Stone Circle and all the amazing people you get to meet.

"But everybody who came over the weekend had been keen to see Taylor Swift (who was booked for a slot at the Pyramid Stage in 2020) so although it was a bit cheesy we put her Reputation tour on to try and capture it a little bit.

"I just really hope it happens for real next year.

"We watched that Worthy Farm Virtual Glastonbury in May and I was glad they were able to do something.

"I also hope the Government provide insurance and guidance to support future festivals and provide greater support to the music and arts industry before it disappears."
