Although the number of people testing positive for Covid-19 continues to rise across Cheshire, hospitalisations remain low.

The most recent data reveals there had been another 180 cases in the 24 hour period up to June 22 across both Cheshire East and West.

In Cheshire West there were 103 positive test results, meaning there have been a total of 23,325 since the pandemic began 15 months ago.

In Cheshire East, the number was slightly lower (77) and so is its overall total of 22,846 cases.

According to the figures released by Public Health England, infection rates across both boroughs continues to rise, with the latest seven day period, up to June 17, being the highest it has been in months.

In Cheshire West, there were 525 positive cases in that seven day period, meaning the infection rate is 153 per 100,000 people.

In Cheshire East, there have been 509 positive cases in the same seven day period giving an infection rate of 132.5 per 100,000.

However, despite the rise in the number of cases, which have coincided with a significant surge in the number of people being tested, those in hospital with the virus remains very low.
