SPEEDING is an issue that Northwich residents feel passionately about.

This was shown in a recent Facebook post by the Northwich Guardian in which readers provided their thoughts as to which roads need a speed camera to combat speeding.

There are 15 in Cheshire West and Chester, and readers have had their say as to where additional ones should be based off their experience on the roads.

Manchester Road, Lostock Gralam road was the most popular suggestion of the lot.

It was labelled as a race-course and dangerous by readers.

Georgina Bonney said: “I agree with Manchester Road it’s so dangerous walking my child to school especially near B and Q. I never see a policeman near ours at night.

Toni Hall added: “It’s like a race track along there including trucks not just cars… people do not follow the 30mph rules even with parked cars either side.

Another resident added: “It’s always been a bad road.”

Runcorn Road from the A49 to Barnton, and through it as well was a popular suggestion.

Lorraine Taylor provided her thoughts on the A530 King Street from the A556 roundabout at Rudheath to the Broken Cross Pub.

“It’s a 30mph limit which has never been enforced, it’s used like a drag strip all the time, there is a pedestrian crossing on it too, even reported it to the Police, still nothing been done, what do I pay my council tax for!!

“Looks like every road in Cheshire has got the same problem, it’s about time something is done about it.”

Kingsway and Victoria Road was mentioned, with one resident adding “it’s like living in the middle of a race track.”

Percy Street off Chester Way was brought up by Stephen Atherton.

“It’s a 20 mph zone but people speed down it and use it as a rat run.”

Other suggestions included Middlewich Road, Moss Road, Darwin Street, Marbury Road, Northwich Road, Chester Road and London Road.
