WE are travelling back to the 1960s this week for this brilliant picture of Warrington town centre.
It depicts Market Gate looking down Buttermarket Street with the former Burton's shop taking centre stage.
Market Gate is traditionally the heart of Warrington with the four main streets of Bridge Street, Buttermarket Street, Sankey Street and Horsemarket Street running from there.
This is when traffic could still drive through the centre of town.
In the 1970s cars were banned and the town centre was pedestrianised as part of sweeping changes which saw Golden Square expanded.
Now the centre of town has been paved and features a fountain and the green 'skittles' as the centrepiece.
What do you remember of Warrington in the 1970s?
