A TRIO of veterans had heads turning as they rode through Cheshire villages.
On their gleaming modern Vespa scooters - a far cry of machines from the era of Mods and Rockers of the 60s - they were taking part in the Vespa Club of Britain regional competition.
The Northwich-based Vespa owners from the Omega Scooter Club have to visit 150 places in the contest and Goostrey was one of their destinations, halting briefly outside the Red Lion before continuing their journey.
The pub was the fifth destination of the day for the lifelong scooter enthusiasts on a new breed of Vespa that can reach speeds of 80 mph.
In pre-coronavirus times, the riders hold runs with other scooter clubs which they hope to resume soon and have undertaken Christmas and Easter gift trips to hospitals, including the Countess of Chester.
