PROPOSALS have been put forward for a traveller pitch in Northwich.

An application has been made for a change of use of land off Norley Lane in Crowton to a traveller pitch, including a replacement building to be used as a dwelling and a retrospective application for a gateway entrance and engineering works of a concrete slab for a touring caravan.

The applicant wishes to replace a timber log cabin-style building, which was initially used for holiday accommodation for a short time and then permanent living accommodation since its construction in 2005.

The land was purchased in 2004 by an unrelated individual who constructed the building and it has a long history of residential use from 2005 to the present day.

Retrospective planning approval is also requested for a tourer caravan pitch and entrance gates and pillars following contact from the Local Planning Authority.

A planning document reads: "The site is questionably previously developed land (brownfield) with an adjoining equestrian paddock.

"There are no drainage or flood issues and the site is generally flat. It has its own existing vehicular access and fenced driveway.

"The site is not isolated, with residential properties nearby. The site boundaries of mature trees and hedging provide separation and screening.

"It is not considered that any of the neighbouring properties visual amenity is impaired by the development and additional screening could be provided to mitigate against any potential overlooking."

It is not envisaged that there would be any additional traffic or vehicle movements.
