ALL traffic has been released on the M56 following a crash, but queuing traffic remains this afternoon, Thursday.
The westbound carriageway was closed at around 12:15pm following a road-traffic collision involving two cars.
All traffic was temporarily held as a result of the incident, which happened between junction nine for the M6 at Lymm and junction 10 for Stretton.
Traffic officers from Highways England attended, as did police, fire crews and paramedics.
Cheshire Police confirmed no injuries have been reported.
A spokesman for the force said: “We received a call at 11.53am reporting a road-traffic collision on the M56 westbound involving a red Renault Clio and a maroon Jaguar XJ6.
“Ambulance and fire crews also attended.
“Nobody was trapped in the vehicles and no injuries were reported.”
All traffic was released at 12.33pm.
