A DOG was rescued after getting its head trapped between metal railings.
Firefighters were called to reports of an animal in distress on Gordale Close in Winnington shortly before 5.20pm last night.
Crews found a Jack Russell stuck in fencing.
In a painstaking operation, firefighters kept the dog reassured as they used their expertise and rescue equipment to free the trapped animal.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used a specialist pneumatic tool to separate the railings and release the dog, who was passed to the care of its owners safe and well."
Firefighters were at the scene for around 30 minutes.
