The new temporary public toilets have been delivered to the town and will be plumbed and up and running in a matter of weeks.

Cllr Sam Naylor, who this week was named as the new town mayor of Northwich, was on hand to see the brand new toilet block winched into place by a crane.

The toilets, which are located on the site of the town's new outdoor space, will not be a permanent feature, but will be there until the wider development of Weaver Square takes place.

Joining Cllr Naylor were Adam Gerrard and Chris Shaw, with new public toilets being one of the main priorities ever since fire destroyed the old market site almost 18 months ago.

Cllr Naylor said: "They will enhance our town and they demonstrate good partnerships between Northwich Town Council, Cheshire West Council and Northwich Businesses (BID).

"With a fair wind they should be powered up and plumbed in within a couple of weeks.

"These two guys (Adam Gerrard and Chris Shaw) are Northwich through and through and will always put our town front and centre in all they do."

Also heavily involved in the scheme were fellow councillors Kate Cernik and Andrew Cooper.

In the longer term, the councillors hope a permanent solution will be found, which is likely to come as part of the wider development of the Weaver Square site.
