In fact the value of homes changing hands has nearly doubled in the first 15 weeks of this year compared with the same time period in 2020.

The thirst to move home at the moment can perhaps be explained with the stamp duty holiday still in place.

In the interests of balance, we decided to look what the most expensive home currently for sale is in the area and compare it to the cheapest one on the market.

The most expensive home is located on Church Street in Davenham and comes with an eye watering price tag of £2,750,000.

However, the Old Rectory is an utterly sumptuous Grade II listed home, sitting within nearly an acre and a half of beautifully landscaped south facing gardens.

Dating from around 1740, The Old Rectory is a beautiful Georgian house which has undergone a superb restoration in recent years to an exemplary standard under the direction of Mark Gillette Interior design of Chester.

The drawing room is simply magnificent, extending into a full width bay which takes full advantage of the south facing rear gardens and views beyond.

The principal bedroom suite includes a very generous bedroom area, with a period fireplace and a full width bay window providing stunning views to the rear.

The flooring is Burmese teak and there is a well-appointed dressing room with a marble topped dressing table.

A connecting door opens to the adjoining bedroom, creating the option of a further dressing room or a guest bedroom with fitted wardrobes and again, teak flooring and a wonderful fireplace.

At the opposite end of the scale, the lowest price we can find that would give you full ownership, as there are many listings offering 25 per cent and 50 per cent ownership, is a three bedroom park bungalow in Oakmere.
