AN eggs-cellent donation to families in need is among the gifts to the Hartford community from house builder Redrow.

An Easter egg was added to food parcels delivered to vulnerable families, while counselling for young people, first responders, flood alleviation measures, school library books, playground equipment and sports teams are also among the cracking good causes to receive support from Redrow’s Hartford Community Fund.

The homebuilder has shared £5,000 via the latest fund, linked to new homes being built at Weaver Park and Water’s Reach.

It brings Redrow’s voluntary support for projects in and around Hartford to more than £25,000 over the last few years.

Redrow area sales manager Caroline Thompson-Jones said: "It’s been a difficult 12 months for everyone, but communities have really come together to support each other.

"One of the biggest challenges many charities and other groups have faced is an increase in demand for their services while not being able to host their usual fundraising activities.

"We received a real mix of applications to our Hartford Community Fund and the panel faced tough decisions when deciding how to allocate the funding.

"In sharing the funds we’ve tried to support a range of projects.

"We’re helping Northwich Community Support to provide families in need with food and Eater eggs; funding jackets for community first responders and working with Hartford Parish Council to improve drainage on local allotments."

Beneficiaries of the latest fund include:

• Northwich Victoria Junior FC

• Northwich Community First Responders

• Friends of Hartford Manor Primary & Nursery School

• Northwich Community Support (NCS)

• Hartford Young NSPCC

• Hartford Parish Council

Northwich Community Support offers a ‘No Food Waste’ programme to offer essentials to vulnerable families and individuals.

Founder Billie Pickstock explained: "There are lots of families who are feeling the strain and trying to keep their heads above water.

"As a result, the work of Northwich Community Support is increasing as more families are having to access the food waste or referral food provisions.

"We provide food weekly, at a couple of hubs, for the local community to access.

"For families already struggling it can be hard not to be able to provide your children with a treat from the Easter bunny.

"With Redrow’s help we’ll be able to support families with food and an Easter egg treat for the children.

"It will not only bridge the gap for those struggling but lift spirits and connect the community."

Support for good causes via the Hartford Community Fund is in addition to Redrow’s statutory investment in the neighbourhood.
