THE M6 had to be closed temporarily in both directions this morning after a stray dog wandered on to the busy road.
The incident happened between junction 17 for Sandbach and Congleton, and junction 18 for Middlewich and Holmes Chapel.
But with the assistance of highways traffic officers they managed to get the dog into their vehicle safely, with no injuries to the animal.
All lanes have now reopened.
