Leftwich play area to benefit from £100k refurb

The money will be used to transform Old Hall Road Play Area with new equipment and a new safety surface so that the play area can be used all year round.

Leftwich Councillor Andrew Cooper, who Chairs Friends of Old Hall Road Play Area, believes the improvements will make a huge difference to families in the area.

He said: "Although we were able to make some small improvements to this play area last year, a lot of the remaining equipment is dated, and it needs a real overhaul.

"Following on from our consultation in the autumn, there were clear majorities in favour of seeing more disabled-accessible equipment here, as well a desire to see it brought up to the standards of Verdin Park – itself renovated last year.

"It’s fantastic that FCC Communities Foundation has awarded us the money we need to make this happen and I’m sure Leftwich residents will be delighted to see a new play area we can all be proud of."

The play area on Old Hall Road in Leftwich will be renovated thanks to a £100k grant from FCC Communities Foundation.

FCC Communities Foundation is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community projects through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Northwich Town Council hopes the new play area will be ready to use in time for the summer holidays.
