ON the face of it, nothing appears to connect Witton Albion with the Malawian village of Mulanje.

Now, though, the club colours are being worn in the African town that is just under 7,000 miles away from Wincham Park.

Thanks to the work of KitAid – a charity that recycles old football kit to distribute across the developing world – a shirt once worn by Albion's development squad will now see a team in Mulanje kitted out.

"Kit Aid is a superb charity which is close to our hearts," Albion chairman John Salmon said.

"We're always very happy to support such a great cause.

"It is wonderful to see the smiles on the faces of the Malawi team and we hope they'll enjoy wearing the famous red and white stripes."
