A TOTAL of 85 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in the latest 24-hour figures.

New Public Health England data covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, February 8.

In that time, there were 49 new coronavirus cases in Cheshire East and 36 in Cheshire West.

Across Cheshire West, the infection rate has now fallen to its lowest level since the seven days up to December 20.

The borough’s seven-day infection rate is now 223.3 per 100,000 people, following 766 cases in the seven days up to February 3.

That is lower than yesterday’s figure of 238.7 per 100,000 people, 295 per 100,000 people one week ago and 376.9 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.

However, the infection rate for Cheshire East has fluctuated slightly over the past week.

The borough’s infection rate is now 183.8 per 100,000 people, following 706 cases in the seven days up to February 3.

That is slightly higher than yesterday’s figure of 183.3 per 100,000 people, which was the borough’s lowest infection rate since the seven days up to December 18.

Week-on-week, the latest rate is lower than 199.7 per 100,000 people from one week ago, and 294.7 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
