DIVERSIONS will be in place every night this week as the new bridge work continues on the A556 and M6.

Delays of up to 16 minutes are expected on the M6, with the Southbound Exit slip road closed at junction 19 between the hours of 9pm-6am from Monday to Friday (February 8-12).

A diversion will take motorists all the way down to junction 18 before doubling back up the M6 heading to the northbound junction 19 exit which will remain open throughout.

The Northbound A556 from the junction 19 roundabout will also be closed for the same period.

Diversions for this route are expected to add ten minutes to journey times, with the diversion taking in the A5033 before heading north on the A50 to get back on the A556.

Work has already started on the £43 million upgrade at Tabley by Highways England to start installing bridge beams across the motorway.

Highways England is constructing a bridge over the M6 through the existing junction roundabout to improve traffic flow between the motorway and the A556 and reduce congestion around the roundabout itself.

The new bridge is set to open in the summer.
