MORE than 200 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in the latest Public Health England figures.
New data covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, February 3, when there were 97 cases in Cheshire East and 111 in Cheshire West – a total of 208 across the two boroughs.
It means that Cheshire East has had 18,107 cases since the pandemic began, while Cheshire West has had 19,010.
Today’s figure of 208 is higher than yesterday’s figure of 177, but lower than the 224 announced on Monday.
Meanwhile, both boroughs are continuing to see their seven-day infection rates fall, although the rate is dropping fairly slowly.
In Cheshire East, the rate is now 195 per 100,000 people following 749 cases in the seven days up to January 29.
That has fallen from 197.6 per 100,000 people in yesterday’s figures, 257.5 per 100,000 people last week and 335.8 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
The rate has seen a bigger fall in Cheshire West today according to Public Health England, where it is now 267.9 per 100,000 people, following 919 cases in the seven days up to January 29.
That compares with 283.3 per 100,000 people in yesterday’s figures, 358.5 per 100,000 people a week earlier and 441 per 100,000 people a fortnight ago.
