ALL lanes have reopened on the M56 following a nasty-looking crash this afternoon, Friday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the eastbound carriageway between junction 14 for Helsby and 12 at Runcorn this lunchtime.
On arrival at 12.40pm, firefighters from Runcorn, Ellesmere Port and Powel Lane fire stations found smoke coming from the car after it collided with the central reservation.
The driver was extracted from the vehicle, which was stranded between two lanes, and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
Highways England reported three miles of queues and delays of half an hour at the time.
