THE Environment Agency has upgraded its flood warnings at three locations in mid Cheshire.
'Immediate action' is now required by the River Weaver at Northwich Marina and the Weaver Navigation in Winsford, where the Environment Agency has issued red flood warnings this morning, January 20.
A red flood warning was also issued overnight for the River Weaver at Acton Bridge and Weaverham.
Flooding is expected in all three of these areas, while the amber flood alerts issued by the Environment Agency yesterday also still stand.
Those alerts cover other areas of the River Weaver catchment in Northwich and Winsford, as well as the River Dane catchment in Middlewich.
Storm Christoph is expected to continue with further heavy rain today and tomorrow, with a yellow weather warning in place from the Met Office.
River levels are expected to remain high until Friday following this week’s downpours, according to the Environment Agency.
The body says river levels have been rising at the Pickerings Cut, Hayhurst Bridge and Ashbrook river gauges as a result of persistent heavy rainfall.
Areas at risk of flooding in Winsford
The Environment Agency says there is a possibility of flooding for properties along New Road, Winsford Bridge and the Marina in Winsford today.
This is also the case for properties at Northwich Marina, as well as Warrington Road and Sandy Lane, near the Weaver at Acton Bridge and Weaverham.

An Environment Agency spokesman added: “Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses, be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation.”
