A SUSPECTED thief who allegedly tried to discard stolen sausages before crashing his car in a police chase Whiston has been released under investigation.
Shortly after 11.30pm on Saturday, January 9 police became involved in a chase with the driver of a black Nissan Juke after he failed to stop on Windy Arbour Road.
However, the suspect soon crashed the car at the junction of Lickers Lanes and Fox’s Bank Lane.
Police say the driver was found to be discarding a pack of sausages into a nearby hedge.
Officers recovered a number of food items which had been stolen from a local shop.

A 33-year-old man was arrested by police. It is also alleged he later failed to provide a roadside breath specimen when asked to do so.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said the man has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
