ROWDY teenagers drinking alcohol on the streets of Middlewich have come under fire for breaching coronavirus restrictions.

A large group of youngsters were spotted throwing street signs around and causing a disturbance in Wheelock Street during several nights in the past week.

Residents reported the incidents to the police and raised their concern on social media.

Police officers say they are now liaising with residents and businesses to track down the youths causing anti-social behaviour.

One man said: "A group of teens aged between 13 and 16 were drinking alcohol, smoking and swearing and trying to talk and act like little gangsters. No masks, no social distancing.

"It is down to youths like these that the virus is still with us and more people are dying."

Another resident said: "There was a large group of around 12-15 kids outside the McColls shop the other night too. All littering, swearing, throwing road works signs and cones around and smoking and drinking."
