WITTON Albion will continue their progress in the FA Trophy in midweek following their first-round success today.

Carl Macauley’s side defeated Bamber Bridge 2-0 and will return to Wincham Park on Tuesday against Cheshire rivals and fellow Northern Premier side, Nantwich Town.

Albion booked their passage with two strikes in the first half from Will Jones and Isaac Baldwin.

Although both sides created several chances in the second period, with Bamber hitting the post late on and Scott Bakkor finding the side netting plus having another effort cleared off the line, the two goals proved to be enough.

Jones headed home a Nick Ryan free kick in the 24th minute and Baldwin swivelled to fire home 10 minutes later after a flowing counter attack.

Witton Albion: Renshaw, Baldwin, McKenna, Wardle, McNulty, Ryan, Owens, Smart, Bakkor, Jones, Foley. Subs: Hopley, Tames, Hooper, Fregapane.

Bamber Bridge: Roccia, Thomson, Marlow, Spooner, Wilson, Wisdom, Churchman, Burton, Dudley, Yeates, King-Harmes. Subs: Waddecar, Roache, Forbes, Radcliffe, Crawford.

Barnton’s home FA Vase second-round tie with Seaham Red Star was postponed due to a waterlogged Townfield pitch and has been rescheduled for next Saturday, December 19.

1874 Northwich and Northwich Victoria were both defeated in friendly matches.

74 Northwich lost 2-1 at Runcorn Linnets after Sam Hare had put the Greens ahead in the 22nd minute.

Vics fell 2-0 at Sandbach United.
