THE number of new cases of coronavirus recorded in Warrington continues to fall, the latest Public Health England data shows.

During the seven days up to November 28, a total of 277 new cases were discovered in the town.

This is 10 fewer than the week up to November 27 and 142 fewer than the previous week up to November 21.

As such, Warrington’s rate of new cases now stands at 131.9 per 100,000 people, which is again much lower than it was in seven days up to November 21, when it was calculated at 199.5.

This means that the town has fallen out of the top 150 local authorities with the highest case rates in England.

The figures are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government's testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).

Data for the most recent four days, November 29-December 2, has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

A majority of areas in England (281 out of 315) have seen a fall in case rates.

Here is the list in full, reading: rate of new cases in the seven days to November 28; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to November 28; rate of new cases in the seven days to November 21; number (in brackets) of new cases recorded in the seven days to November 21.
