A BUSY roundabout, which is set to get new apartments, could also soon have a new pizza take-away.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has received a planning application to convert the former Megabet betting shop, within the Leicester Street roundabout off Chesterway, which closed in January.

Khalil Rehman, from Milton Keynes, wants to convert the empty unit into a pizza take-away – with the expectation of producing around 100 meals a day.

A statement attached to the planning application suggests the unit would become a franchise of Caprinos Pizza, which currently has 29 stores across the country, including one in Crewe.

According to the planning application, the business would be open from 11am to 11pm, seven days a week.

It is expected to create 25 jobs, including full-time and part-time roles.

A planning statement written on behalf of Caprinos said: “The proposed change of use will make positive use of a vacant unit and support the vitality and viability of the local area by increasing footfall and providing job opportunities for the local residents.”

The take-away could have potential customers right on its doorstep, after CWAC approved plans to build 16 apartments next to the former betting shop back in June.

Residents can have their say on the take-away plans until December 18.
