WHITE ribbons are being tied to trees to help combat domestic abuse.
Whitegate WI is taking part in the White Ribbon Campaign which runs until December 10 with 16 days of action to end violence against women.
The campaign is intended to raise awareness of the prevalence of male violence against women, with the ribbon symbolising 'the idea of men giving up their arms'.
Active in more than 60 countries, the movement seeks to promote healthy relationships, gender equity and a compassionate vision of masculinity.
Their Cheshire Federation centenary tree, which was planted earlier this year to commemorate 100 years of Cheshire Federation, has been decorated with white ribbons to recognise White Ribbon Day.

Despite Coronavirus, thousands of people across the country are speaking out to end violence against women. There has been an increase in domestic abuse and other forms of violence against women during the pandemic.
Station House Cafe at Whitegate helped Whitegate WI by allowing access to the tree and for supporting them in their campaign. The cafe is currently closed due to Covid.
Members are encouraged to wear a white ribbon and to donate toiletries to the care package appeal for Chester West and Chester Domestic Abuse Services.
