A NORTHWICH care home resident has celebrated her 100th birthday with a message off Her Majesty.

Margaret Robinson, a former Lostock-based greengrocer, who now lives at Daneside Court on the banks of the River Dane, celebrated her centenary at the home last week.

To mark the big day, Margaret was surrounded with flowers, birthday cards, lots of cake and plenty of well wishes to mark her wonderful 100 years.

Margaret, nee Ormesher, spent her early life on Castle Bank, attending Castle Girls School and then went on to work at Alcotts Dairy, Castle and ICI Wallerscote works.

She married her husband Albert Robinson and they had two children.

She later moved to Lostock where they ran a greengrocer on Manchester road, where she worked with her son Philip until she retired, before she moved to Middlewich Road, Rudheath.

Home Manager, Samantha Farahat, said: "It was lovely to see Margaret turning 100 years young and helping to make her day a special one to remember.

"Her great loves were her family and walking the countryside with her dogs Sheena and then Lucy.

"When Margaret opened her Birthday card from the Queen and she had the biggest smile.

"Colleagues dressed her room with the cards and flowers so she could see them, where she loves to relax."

Margaret thanked the staff, "Thank you very much, you did well."
