WARRINGTON South MP Andy Carter has given his thoughts on which tier of coronavirus restrictions the town should be placed under.
The current Covid-19 lockdown will end on December 2, with the tiered measures then coming back into place.
But each tier will be stricter than previously – with additional restrictions including working from home where possible in all tiers, alcohol to be served only with a substantial meal in tier two and all hospitality to close in tier three.
Gradings for each area in England are due to be announced on Thursday, and Mr Carter is hoping that the town will be placed in the middle of the three categories.
The Tory member said: “I hope we’ll be in tier two, but I’m keen to review the latest data as it comes in on Thursday – including Office for National Statistics data too.
“Warrington collectively has taken great steps to reduce the infection rates.
"The tougher restrictions have shown what we can do to control the virus.
"However, we are by no means out of the woods yet and we’ve still got some way to go until the vaccine is approved by regulators and distributed out to priority groups and the public.
"But there is light at the end of the tunnel, and I’d urge residents to keep going.”
