NEW figures show another 287 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in 24 hours across Cheshire East and West.

The latest data from Public Health England covers the 24-hour period up to 9am today, October 28.

In Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, there were 150 new coronavirus cases confirmed in that time.

That is higher than the 127 new cases that were confirmed in the borough on Tuesday and takes the total figure to 5,470 since the pandemic started.

Meanwhile in Cheshire East, including Knutsford and Middlewich, there were 137 new Covid-19 cases in the 24 hours up to 9am today.

That takes the borough’s total to 5,794 cases since the pandemic began – but it is a lower daily figure than the 166 cases announced on Tuesday.

The two boroughs are seeing higher numbers of Covid-19 cases this week than last, despite being in the second week of a Tier 2 lockdown.

Households are no longer allowed to mix indoors, although the rule of six still applies outdoors.

Seven-day infection data has also seen an increase week-on-week in recent days.
