REVISED plans to replace a Knutsford bungalow with three homes are facing opposition ahead of a crucial planning meeting.

PLT Properties wants to demolish the Fernlea bungalow, on Stanley Road, and build a detached house — and two semi-detached dwellings — on the site.

Ahead of next week’s Cheshire East Council northern planning committee, Knutsford Town Council has submitted an objection to the altered scheme.

It says: “The council objects on the grounds that: A) The amended proposal continues to represent an overdevelopment of the site leading to unacceptable relationships within and adjoining the site. B) The materials palette chosen are not sympathetic to the character of the adjacent Conservation Areas.”

Councillors refused a similar scheme back in June — on the grounds that the work could represent ‘over-development’ of the area.

That decision has now gone to appeal with a pre-meeting report saying the new plans differ from the summer versions in that the semi-detached homes are now further back from Stanley Road.

Neighbours have also raised objections to the proposals, citing concerns over privacy, access, and a belief that the proposals are not in keeping with the town.

Prior to the 2020 application, developers sought permission two years ago to construct three detached houses on the site — which was withdrawn.
