NORTHWICH Victoria overcame a form Irlam side with a late goal at Wincham Park.

Bradley Lynch's 87th-minute strike earned Steve Wilkes' side a 2-1 win and three points that enabled them to climb six places into sixth place.

And they did so despite losing two defenders to injury in the opening 20 minutes, with Saul Brew-Butler and Leo Roberts having to be replaced.

They created lots of chances but Vics' second win of the North West Counties League Premier Division campaign started with a Matty Birchall goal after 33 minutes.

Karl Cassell replied from the penalty spot in the 58th minute for Irlam, who won 3-2 at 1874 Northwich at the weekend.

But Lynch, who came off the bench for the final 15 minutes, slid the ball home after meeting a through ball to find himself one-on-one with the visiting keeper.
