A GRANDMA from Great Sankey who spent the past 11 years supporting cancer patients has lost her own battle with the disease.

Linda Hill, 63, worked as a Macmillan Cancer Support engagement lead, but was diagnosed with lung cancer herself in 2019.

She had worked tirelessly with cancer patients and their families across Cheshire to ensure they were actively involved in improving cancer care.

Friend and colleague, Jane Rigney, said: “Anybody who had the pleasure of working with Linda knew how warm, supportive and kind she was.

“She also made the best cakes and gave the best hugs.

“Linda will be greatly missed, both as a colleague and as a friend, and she leaves behind a great legacy of work from joining Macmillan in 2011.

Warrington Guardian:

“It was typical of Linda that after being diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019, she remained positive and determined to make the most of the time she had left with her family.”

Linda leaves behind her partner Glynn, brother Peter, sons Phill and Barry and grandchildren Joel, Martha, Kaylah and Jaxon.

Lynda Thomas, Macmillan chief executive, added: “Linda possessed a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge that she was always willing to share with her colleagues to ensure that the voice of people living with cancer was heard at all levels.

“Linda’s warmth, kindness and positivity will be hugely missed and we are so grateful for all she did for people affected by cancer over the last nine years at Macmillan.”

A tribute fund page for Linda has been set up in line with her wishes for donations made in her memory to be given to Macmillan.
