ANOTHER 219 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Cheshire East and West in the past 24 hours.

The latest figures from Public Health England cover the 24 hours up to 9am today, Wednesday, October 14.

In Cheshire East, including Knutsford and Middlewich, a further 126 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed by 9am today, taking the total to 4,196 since the pandemic began.

In Cheshire West, including Northwich and Winsford, 93 new cases were confirmed by 9am, taking the borough’s total to 3,916 since the start of the pandemic.

It is a slight increase on the 210 new cases confirmed across the two boroughs on Tuesday.

A total of 19,724 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed across the UK in the latest figures, taking the total to 654,644.

Both boroughs were added to the Government’s ‘tier two’ list for lockdown restrictions yesterday, with the measures set to come into force today.

It means that households will be banned from mixing in any indoor setting – but the rule of six will still apply outdoors, while pubs and restaurants can continue to trade with the 10pm curfew.
