A SITE in Winnington is being eyed up for a new 66-bed care home.

LNT Care Developments is looking to build the facility at the former Yoxall Joinery site, in Winnington Avenue.

The brownfield site currently has outline planning permission for 33 homes, granted by Cheshire West and Chester Council last December.

This latest proposal would see a two-storey, 3,178sq m care home built on the site instead, which LNT says would create between 50 and 60 full-time equivalent jobs.

In its planning application, LNT said: "The site clearly lies within a sustainable location in close proximity to facilities, local population and existing public transport services.

"The development of the site will contribute to maintaining a socially inclusive community, whilst also providing significant numbers of jobs.

"The proposed care home would provide a form of development that should positively enhance the character of the site and surrounding area, whilst also offering an important local community service."

If approved, the care home would have 20 car parking spaces, with LNT expecting 24 members of staff to be on-site at peak times.
