TONIGHT'S Witton Albion clash with Crewe Alexandra in the Cheshire Senior Cup is off.

It is the second game called off for Covid-19 reasons in the space of several hours.

Albion's trip to Hyde United next week has also been postponed, as previously reported.

Crewe's inability to fulfil the cup fixture follows the decision of calling off their league game at Oxford United yesterday, just hours before kick-off.

In a statement, The Alex said: "The decision has been taken after fully considering the relevant guidance from the Government and EFL.

"The football club will now continue to work with the EFL to ensure our fixture with Blackpool (on Saturday) and subsequent games go ahead as planned."

The tie will take place on Wednesday, October 28, instead.

Meanwhile, Hyde confirmed two positive Covid-19 tests among their playing squad and backroom staff.

As a result, all first-team activity at the club has been suspended up to and including October 24.

This includes the scheduled clash with Albion at Ewen Fields on Tuesday, October 20.

A new date for the fixture is yet to be arranged.
